Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
DARK CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BARS
All I have to say is WOW… if you’re a fan of dk chocolate and peanut butter these are your new best friends!
These turned out 1000x better than I even imagined! Texture is great, and there’s a delicious fudgey layer on top… made with all REAL ingredients, because I’m tired of all the gross ingredients and sugars in the bars out there. Fuel yourself with the real stuff and make these instead!
Ingredients
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
Sprinkle sea salt
1/4 cup cacao powder
1/4 cup ground flax
1/4 cup hemp seeds
1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup plant based milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Fudge layer-
1/3 cup cacao chips
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp peanut butter
Method
Add peanut butter, maple syrup and sea salt to a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth
Add in cacao powder, ground flax, hemp seeds and mix again. It will begin to have a doughy consistency.
Add in oats and milk and mix well.
Add in walnuts and mix again until consistency is even throughout.
In an 8x8 baking dish lined with wax paper add the mixture and pack firmly to create an even layer.
Place in the fridge for an hour or until it’s firm and completely chilled.
In the meantime melt your chocolate and add in the coconut oil and PB. Stir until melted to liquid.
Pour over your your bar mixture and place back in the fridge until completely solid.
Slice into 8 pieces. Store in the fridge or freezer.
I created this recipe specially for one of my clients, after discussing how it’s so hard to find a decently healthy bar! We both appreciate the convenience of a bar though, so we decided I should come up with my own. We were aiming for healthy plant based protein, fats, fiber, and low in added sugar. Rest assured these are equally delicious as they are nutritious! My clients inspire me every single day!
